2012 Buddy Walk Sunday, May 20th, 2012 U of D Athletic Complex Newark, Delaware 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk to promote the understanding, inclusion and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. More than 1.5 million people worldwide have participated in a Buddy Walk. On Sunday, May 20th, the DSA of Delaware will host the 9th Annual Buddy Walk at the University of Delaware. More than 1,500 people are expected to participate by walking, volunteering or collecting donations in the name of their Buddy or Team. Following the walk are free activities and entertainment for toddlers to teenagers. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and plan to spend the day with your Buddy or team.
Saturday, February 11 from 6-9pm As the count down to the Buddy Walk begins, start building momentum and members for your team with a night out on the town. Join us at Dead Presidents Restaurant and Pub on North Union Street in Wilmington, where proceeds from sales will go to the Buddy Walk. Participants must be 21 or older.
Friday, May 11 from 5pm – 10pm kick off the 2012 Buddy Walk with an adult night out with your team at Catherine Rooney’s on Delaware Avenue in Wilmington. Baskets of Cheer and other items will be raffled off during the night. All tips and proceeds from a specialty drink will be donated to the Buddy Walk. Appetizers will be served. Participants must be 21 or older.
Win a trip to the 2012 National Down Syndrome Congress Convention in Washington, DC at Marriott Wardman Park, July 20-22. A trip for two will be awarded to the team or Buddy who raises the most in registrations and donations. Donations must be received by May 25th to be eligible for the Challenge.

How much spirit do you have? Create your own motivational signs and banners to show off as you walk the mile. The Buddy Walk Spirit Awards will be given to the teams or buddies who, as judged during the walk, have the most spirit. Go Team…..Go Buddies!

The Scholarship will grant 21 applicants up to $300 to attend the 2012 NDSC Annual Convention in Washington, DC at Marriott Wardman Park, July 20-22. Applicants are limited to families with an individual with Down syndrome living in the DSA of DE service region and have registered a team that participates in the 2012 DSA of DE Buddy Walk.
