DSA Delaware Calendar Family Events Fall Family Fun Day - Bocce Ball and Art & Crafts
1 PM - 4 PM
Join us for an afternoon of fun outdoor activities including Bocce Ball and a fantastic Arts & Crafts Station hosted by Jen Easterday. Jen will be facilitating fun, creative and useful art projects for kids of all ages. The resulting artwork will be photographed and used to create the prize medals for the upcoming Run for the Buds, note cards which will be made available through the website and possibly auctioned off at a future DSA fundraiser. Jen Easterday, a home schooling mom of 4 children, has been a nurse for 15 years and an artist for as long as she can remember! Jen spent 10 years as a nurse at the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute working with adults and children experiencing cancer. Currently, Jen works as a nurse at Exceptional Care for Children serving medical fragile children. She enjoys combining her love of nursing and art by volunteering with her family using art as therapy and healing for children with special needs. Over the last 5 years, Jen has been teaching children in the home schooling community the skills of art but also the art of service to others in need. Jen and her students founded a student charity art auction program that began in 2009 where students have raised money to support the arts and needs of kids in local charities such as Delaware Hospice's Camp New Hope, Urban Promise of Wilmington, Child Inc. and the Boys and Girls Christian Home in India. Her new art program , Studio 4:10, begins this fall with a mission of promoting creativity, hearts of service, and helping kids of all ages and abilities see that they have gifts that can make a difference. Jen and her students look forward to working together with the children and families of DSA of Delaware! More details to follow.
