Buddy Walk^® on Washington!

Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers, a member of the Down Syndrome Caucus and a mother of a young boy with Down syndrome hopes to see many advocates on the hill this February for the Buddy Walk^® on Washington. Cathy told us, "The Buddy Walk on Washington brings the local community and the Nation’s Capitol together to celebrate the accomplishments of individuals with Down syndrome and to educate elected representatives on those issues affecting the Down syndrome community.”

Join the National Down Syndrome Society for the Buddy Walk on Washington
February 24th and 25th, 2010

The Buddy Walk on Washington will be a powerful way for advocates in the Down syndrome community to send a strong message of advocacy from the Down syndrome community about important national policy priorities. It will also be a great opportunity to meet and create positive relationships with policy makers and with fellow Down syndrome advocates from around the country. 

If you are interested in getting involved in legislative issues that affect people with Down syndrome and their families, the Buddy Walk on Washington is an ideal experience! Here is a first look at the conference schedule:

Wednesday, February 24

2:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
Interactive advocacy training to unite and prepare for visits on the Hill

6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
Buddy Walk on Washington Reception and Award Ceremony (Dinner served)

Thursday, February 25

8:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m.     
Legislative Breakfast on the Hill

9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Meetings with Elected Officials (lunch on your own)

includes a ticket to the Reception and Award Ceremony, is $25.
