Loyola University Maryland in association with Kennedy Krieger Institute is currently recruiting typically-developing siblings between the ages of 11 and 17, of children diagnosed with an Down syndrome or an Autism Spectrum Disorder for an online study. This project is looking at psychological adjustment and perceived relationship quality in typically-developing siblings of children with Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorders.
This 30-minute online survey is designed to be filled out by a typically-developing sibling of a child diagnosed with an ASD or Down syndrome. One parent will need to be available to provide informed consent for the child as well as enter a few quick demographic questions. The hope is that this study, under the supervision of Loyola faculty and Dr. Brian Freedman of Kennedy Krieger Institute will help determine what issues need to be addressed in sibling workshops as well as to determine what issues are prevalent within the family system when one child has special needs. This study has been approved by Loyola University's Institutional Review Board.
All children who complete the survey will have the option of entering their name and e-mail address or phone number to be entered for a $50 Target gift card drawing as an incentive for completing the survey. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at camaas@loyola.edu. Thank you so much for your time. The link to this online survey is https://www.psychdata.com/s.asp?SID=131209.
