Our Little Man

To introduce ourselves we are the Stevens; Owen, Connie, Sidney (four years old), and last but not least, Alex (thirteen months old) with Down syndrome.

Our Story—Debby Damiani

On March 27, 2004 our daughter Laura Giselle will be one year old. As her birthday approaches, I am constantly reminded of the circumstances surrounding her birth. “This time last year I was doing this or that……” and “this time last year I was here or there….” are recurring thoughts. Like any other mother, I’ll always remember every single moment of her birth and cherish any opportunity to tell my story.

Tyler and Peter

Twenty eight years ago, it seemed almost unthinkable to us that two guys with special needs could ever share an apartment together and live independently. At that time we asked ourselves “where do we go from here” as the families of newborns with special needs. Now Peter Arnold and Tyler Kennedy live the unthinkable reality that came about because of all the work so many have done to make education, work, and independence possible.
