An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, happening 2 times
Deborah A Jastrebski, CHL, BS
Deborah Jastrebski is the Founder and CEO of Practice Without Pressure, a nationally acclaimed philosophy and model of medical, dental and personal care for people with disabilities. Ms. Jastrebski created Practice Without Pressure with, and because of, her son, Marc. Marc has Down syndrome, and many medical issues. He became so frightened of anything in his personal space (haircuts, nail care, blood draws, anything!) that he would break blood vessels in his face from crying and thrashing around. Because of PWP, Marc now participates in his own care, and helps other people to do the same. Practice Without Pressure builds capacity in individuals with disabilities, their caregivers, and clinicians and professionals who work with them, to significantly reduce sedation for procedures, and to eliminate restraint.
Marc K Jastrebski
Mr. Jastrebski is an amazing man who loves all Philadelphia sports teams, his family, and happens to have Down syndrome. He is the inspiration for the creation of the Practice Without Pressure (PWP) philosophy and model of care.
Mr. Jastrebski was born with significant heart issues along with his Down syndrome, and had his third open heart surgery in 2017. He worked for thirteen years, but chose to retire after COVID from any jobs not associated with PWP. Marc now works with his mom doing speaking engagements, lectures, and training clinicians in the PWP process, and helping other individuals with disabilities build capacity for positive medical, dental and personal care procedures.
