September 13, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Matt Baxter is Social Security’s public affairs specialist for Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia. Matt has worked at Social Security for fourteen years. Since 2014 he has coordinated the agency’s outreach efforts throughout his territory. Prior to serving in his current capacity, Matt spent seven years as a claims specialist in the Wilmington, DE field office, during which time he received a Commissioner’s Citation, the agency’s most prestigious employee award.

Matt grew up in Lancaster County, PA and graduated from Saint Joseph’s University with a B.A. in International Relations. He and his wife have a passion for travel. They live in Wilmington with their two cats.

Social Security 101:  This seminar covers the eligibility criteria for all of the Social Security Administration’s benefit programs. Besides retirement benefits, the agency also offers disability benefits from birth to full retirement age as well as survivor benefits for children and widowed spouses. Concerns about the future solvency of these programs will be addressed. Finally, fraud prevention tips and an overview of the online services available through Social Security’s website will be provided. These services can be used by individuals throughout their careers for financial planning purposes and later, while collecting Social Security, to manage their benefits. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
