Rock Your Socks

Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Ds chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!

Thank you for your interest in participating in our Rock Your Socks for World Down Syndrome Day program. Our order form for 2024 will open in November 2023. If you are interested in being included in the mailing list or have questions about the program, please email Kellie Boyce at office@dsadelaware.org.

How It Works

Our order form opens in November. Place an order for youth or adult socks. Adult socks fit most teens/adults as well as older children and youth socks are recommended for any children around age 8. They are not for toddlers or babies.

Bulk Orders: Schools and businesses are encouraged to complete our Bulk Order Form. Bulk Orders require a minimum of 100 pairs.

Individual Orders: Individuals looking to purchase orders of less than 100 pairs of socks have two options: purchase socks from a local business or order socks to be shipped directly to you. *Shipping orders will have a $20 flat shipping fee.

Pricing/Payment

  • Socks must be sold for a minimum donation of $5/pair. Discounted pricing is available for schools only for $2/pair. Proceeds from any socks sold are then sent back to the Down Syndrome Association of DE after sales are complete.

If you work with students within an educational or learning setting, view our Disability Awareness Toolkit. This toolkit includes videos, age specific lesson plans and other resources to promote disability awareness within your classroom. One of our moms has also created lesson plans, available for purchase, which we highly recommend. View our Rock Your Socks lesson plans and coloring page!
