Days of Summer Camp

The Days of Summer Camp was started in 2012 with a small group of about twenty children and has grown into a large summer day program in all three counties. The goal of the camp is to allow children with Down syndrome the opportunity to have the experiences of summer camp while practicing independence, developing physical and emotional health as well as increasing their confidence levels. We strive to maintain an atmosphere where children can build great peer relationships and have a fun experience at camp!

Camp is a fun day camp experience for children with Down syndrome ages 3-13 and their siblings ages 3-10. Children are provided with the traditional camp experience with crafts, games, and many other exciting activities at no cost to their families. Campers are not required to be potty trained.

As stated in the camp application, not every camper is guaranteed a spot at camp just because they applied. Campers will be limited to attending one out of the three camps. Official acceptance to camp of all campers and counselors will be determined by DSA staff and is not guaranteed.

A certified nurse and teacher are on-site at all times, and young adults ages 15-25 serve as counselors. Counselors receive at least 40 hours of documented community service for their time. We will also accept a limited number of Counselors in Training ages 12-14.

Applications are due by June 1, 2024 for both Campers and Counselors.
